Works on Paper
Mixed media on paper. After a few years of painting with water-mixable oils, I needed to explore and find a new level of freedom. I did. Most recently, I've been working on 22 x 30 paper.
"The Red Feather" 22 x 30 mixed media on paper. Thread, folded paper, red feather, collaged painted elements.

"Genie and the Box" 22 x 30 mixed media on paper. Thread, collaged paintings, pen, chalk pastel.
"No Extra" 22 x 30 mixed media on paper. The first of a series of minimal gestural pieces, many named after the principles of Breema - a body-centered practice for giving and receiving sequences of stretching that center of the giver's own body comfort as a basis for giving.
Sashay
The gestural pieces are often "dancey" and figurative. An open brush followed by smudging pastel across the lines, pen work for thinner lines.

When the first gesture extends into a long curving line, it often is enough. If not, I revel in adding small areas of complexity that you see up close.

Continue to be enthralled with geometry and flow - random but controlled drips over the grid. working on large versions of this.

White pen covering and unifying the color and shapes beneath. Groundedness through the two L-shapes gave rise to the feeling of two dancers. Comes from my 25 years of Indian dance - fluid lines and rhythmic gaps.
