One of the textured pieces. Won Most Popular by vote in the Fairfield Art Association member show 2024.

"You’d be Nothing Without Me" 24" x 36" acrylic and oil on wood panel. 2024
From my Textured oil painting group. I feel it has the element of fabric and costume in it, from my years of dancing. I'm always so happy when I realize a dance form is emerging. The subtlest hint of a female form, unconsciously appearing, as usual. The illusion of movement is very important to me. There's that red square again!

"Hide and Seek" 24x30" acrylic on canvas. 2024.

"Visitation" SOLD
18" x 18" 2022. Also called "It Ain't All Bad in the Underworld." Once upon a time this was a nice, sparse, cream-colored painting with a burnt orange calligraphy in the center. It was calling out to be enriched and it took a few months, working on several other pieces simultaneously, to find my way out of the ensuing complexity and create a place of rest in the work. Making the red-orange color more pervasive and then letting the sides stay complex and textured, gave it the space I needed to see.

"Seeing Through It All" 2023 24" x 36" SOLD
Oil & Acrylic.

"Industrial Kundalini" (or "I Just Need Some Space).
24 x 32" 2022
Not to get too intentionally "spiritual" or anything. But I did know it was done by the flow of energy that I felt when I added more orange. The odd thing was that the piece felt too loud, too busy, so I was wondering what to do when the idea to add YET more orange and YET more shapes. When I added the orange streaks, the piece went quieter.

"Elizabeth" 24" x 36" Oil on masonite panel. 2022 Available through Iowa Artisans Gallery.
currently horizontal!

"The Way You Look Tonight" "16 x 16" 2022
Also known as "Splat, Kapow, Boom."

"More Going on Below" 24 x 32. 2022 Available through Iowa Artisans Gallery
This painting was vertical until one day it wasn't. A friend and I discovered its horizonal superiority and this has opened my mind to the idea of painting horizontally. Not committing mind you, just exploring. The other thing to say about this piece is that it broke through after a month when I picked up my palette paper and squashed it against the work. The dark colors involved got me to see what was needed and i integrated the splats with great vigor. The title may change but it refers to the fact that the two halves are equally in the forefront.

"Runaway Square" 2022 18" x 18" SOLD

"Impasto" 18" x 24" 2019
